A glass of orange juice at breakfast in the morning and a few slices of tomato with bread every lunchtime, is expected to reduce the risk of stroke. This report researchers from Japan recently. Why also, vitamin C, do not come from supplements ...

From the results of research conducted over the past 20 years, they measured levels of vitamin C in the blood of about 21 thousand participants (Japanese population) aged 40's. It said that those who eat more fruits and vegetables have the highest vitamin C levels in the blood. And the risk of stroke 28% to 41% lower than those which contain vitamin C in the blood is lower.

Strong levels of vitamin C associated with a reduced risk of events in brain disorders and stroke. So Dr. Tetsuji Yokoyama of Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Japan.
Yokoyama and colleagues also explained that vitamin C, which contained a lot of fruits and vegetables, it is an antioxidant. These nutrients can neutralize free radicals, are compounds that can damage DNA cells and cause premature aging, and various chronic diseases. Antioxidant believed to protect the accumulation of fat in blood vessels, which triggered the kind of stroke called a cerebral infarction.

Well, that high levels of vitamin C in the blood is believed the researchers can reduce the risk of type of stroke that occur because of damage to blood vessels in the brain. Therefore, intake of fruits and vegetables that are expected to lower high blood pressure or trigger can reduce the risk of stroke. Thus the results of the study, also published in the Journal of the American Heart Association, some time ago.

Although they are still not sure how the mechanism occurs. To be sure, they said. Fruits and vegetables are very high nutritional content, such as vitamin C, magnesium, calcium, fiber, and carotene. "All the nutrients were allegedly able to reduce the risk of cancer," says Yokoyama.

Consumption of vitamin C should also be followed by a healthy lifestyle. "Not smoking, regular exercise, not drinking alcohol. The problem of cigarettes and alcohol can affect the absorption and metabolism of vitamin C in the body," he added.
Yokoyama also warned for vitamin C you eat should come from fresh foods, not supplements.
